The Fred and Ruth Stork Cardiac Inpatient Unit
Fred and Ruth were married in Germany and emigrated to Canada in 1953.
They moved to Kitchener-Waterloo in 1965 with their children Michael and Marion.
Fred helped found and was the President of Unitron Industries Ltd in Kitchener until his retirement in 1993. Ruth was a homemaker engaged with raising their family.
Fred contributed to the community through involvement with several business associations. Both enjoyed a happy retirement in Waterloo and at their winter home in Naples, Florida.
Fred and Ruth chose to give back to the community that allowed them to raise their family and prosper over the years. Personal health concerns allowed Fred and Ruth to see some of the needs in the community’s health care community. These motivated them to make gifts to both St. Mary’s and Grand River hospitals, gifts that will benefit the community for many years. The Cardiac care unit at St. Mary’s Hospital has significantly enhanced the ability to care and treat cardiac patients in Waterloo Region.
Their legacy is one of having helped build a better community through their personal initiative and then giving back and sharing their success with the citizens of Kitchener-Waterloo.
